![]() ![]() Apple has not yet replied to my request for details about the cause or extent of the faults, but in a statement to Motherboard a spokesperson said “We are looking into a very small number of reports affecting the microphone on iPhone 7, if a customer has a question about their device they can contact AppleCare.”ĪppleCare is certainly one approach to repairing a broken iPhone with this issue, but as with the saga of the deterioration of the iPhone battery, would you really expect a smartphone that is not even two years old to be developing faults that are inherent in the design? If the issues with the iPhone 7 are down to design choices (as Jones suspects) or material choices (Cerva’s suspicion), then I would hope Apple would publicly confirm the issue and offer an extension to the warranty. ![]() Once more Apple is facing reports of an issue that is not affecting iPhones out of the box, but after 18 to 24 months of use in the real world. ![]()
